CFE000710 - Land Rover Channel-vertical drain
Land Rover Defender Front Door Glass Vertical Drain Channel - CFE000710
CFE000710 is the vertical drain and felt channel fitted to the front doors of Land Rover Defender 90, 110 and 130 models, covering vehicles from 1987 through to the end of L316 production in 2016. Installed in the front leading edge of the door frame, this channel supports and guides the 4 mm door glass as it travels up and down, while also forming part of the weather‑sealing system that prevents water ingress into the door cavity.
Supplied in a black felt‑lined metal channel, CFE000710 is designed to provide a low‑friction, cushioned sliding surface for the window glass, reducing rattle, vibration, and wear on the window mechanism. On genuine versions, the channel is pre‑formed to the exact curvature of the Defender door aperture, allowing correct alignment with the window regulator runners and ensuring smooth, consistent operation. The part supersedes earlier front‑section felt channels used on older Defender and late Series vehicles, including part number MXC5829.
Mounted vertically inside the front door, the channel sits opposite the rear felt runner and forms one side of the complete glass‑support system. Its primary functions include maintaining the glass in its correct track, preventing lateral play, draining water down through the door frame, and contributing to wind‑noise reduction at speed. Due to age‑related felt degradation, corrosion of the metal channel, or distortion caused by door impacts or repeated window use, CFE000710 is a common replacement item during door refurbishment and window‑mechanism overhauls. Correct replacement restores smooth window travel, reduces water ingress, and eliminates “glass chatter” often heard in older Defenders.
