PHE500060 - Land Rover Element - Air Cleaner
Land Rover Defender TDCi Engine Air Filter - PHE500060
PHE500060 is the genuine engine air‑filter element fitted to Land Rover Defender 90, 110 and 130 models equipped with the 2.4‑litre (2007–2011) and 2.2‑litre (2012–2016) TDCi Puma diesel engines. Installed within the vehicle’s air‑cleaner housing, this rectangular pleated filter provides primary intake filtration, removing airborne dust, dirt and fine particulates before air reaches the turbocharger and combustion chambers.
Supplied as a genuine Land Rover component, PHE500060 features a rigid moulded frame, typically finished in orange or red, supporting a deep, high‑capacity pleated paper medium designed to maintain consistent airflow while offering high filtration efficiency. Genuine versions follow OEM specifications for sealing tolerance and filter density, ensuring full perimeter sealing when installed in the Puma‑spec air‑box and preventing unfiltered air bypass under load or vibration.
Engineered specifically for the TDCi Defender’s intake system, the filter protects vital components including the turbocharger, MAF sensor and cylinder bores, reducing the risk of premature wear due to dust ingestion. Correct airflow management is also essential for maintaining stable boost pressure, fuelling accuracy and fuel efficiency, performance characteristics that can degrade noticeably when filters are saturated or incorrectly sealed. For this reason, PHE500060 forms a key part of scheduled Defender maintenance and is often replaced more frequently on vehicles operating off‑road or in dusty environments. The use of a genuine Land Rover filter maintains factory‑specified protection, longevity and airflow characteristics, making it a preferred replacement during routine servicing or when diagnosing intake‑related performance issues.
