LAND ROVER CLASSIC & RNLI
The team at classic works have shown true Customer Love recently supporting the RNLI with one of their Classic Land Rover Defenders. We were delighted to be contacted by a volunteer at the RNLI who previously worked for our parent company Tata to ask if we could help source some parts for their Land Rover Defender. We went one step further and offered to lightly restore the vehicle at our own cost in recognition of the important work the RNLI do #savinglivesatsea.
Having spent it’s life being dipped in and out of salt water launching boats and saving lives the doors were heavily corroded and the front seats were in need of repair. When the vehicle arrived it was clear that in order to mount the new doors securely and have them stand up to the tough working life this vehicle has we needed to carry out some repairs to the A post. Once the corrosion had been removed from the A posts and front floor by our expert technicians, the vehicle was sent into paint to have the repairs blended seamlessly into the rest of the vehicle.
New doors were perfectly colour matched by our skilful paint team and fitted by our passionate technicians along with new hinges, door cards, handles and fixings (required due to the doors being upgraded to later Puma doors). Once the doors were fitted the attention to detail ingrained in our Proud Creators took over and they set about cleaning and repainting other parts of the vehicle that were showing signs of weathering/corrosion including the side steps, slam panel and front grille before adding the final touches, a new set of mud flaps and number plates.
