Land Rover Defender Alpine Roof Window Seal - DBF500030 (1989–2016, 4mm Glass)
DBF500030 is the Alpine roof window glazing seal used on Land Rover Defender models from 1989 through to end of L316 production in 2016, including both 90 and 110 wheelbases. This rubber weatherstrip secures the fixed Alpine glass panels into the roof panel above the second row, forming the primary weather and structural interface between the glass and the roof aperture.
DBF500030 is designed to accept 4 mm roof glass, providing a tight, uniform compression fit around the entire aperture. It is one half of a two‑piece glazing system: the outer main seal (DBF500030) holds the glass in place, while the separate filler/locking strip (DBF500040) tensions the assembly to lock the glass securely into the frame. Genuine seals follow the Defender‑specific profile required to sit flush against the roof panel and maintain correct water run‑off characteristics.
DBF500030 supersedes earlier Alpine-window glazing seals such as MWC4771 and DBF500020, used on earlier Defender models. The current specification improves sealing longevity, UV resistance, and compatibility with later roof-pressing geometries.
This seal is fitted to Defender 90 and 110, including NAS models and both hard‑top and station‑wagon configurations that feature the standard twin Alpine windows. Over time, original seals commonly suffer from shrinkage, hardening, and cracking—leading to water ingress, wind noise, or loose glazing. Replacement of DBF500030 restores proper glazing retention, eliminates leaks, and improves cabin acoustic performance.
