Land Rover Defender Front Coil Spring - NRC9448 (Driver‑Side, Blue/Red Code)

NRC9448 is the driver‑side front coil spring fitted to Land Rover Defender 90, 110 and 130 models, covering vehicles from the late 1980s through to the end of L316 Defender production in 2016. Installed on the right‑hand front suspension turret, this spring provides the specific rate and ride‑height control required for vehicles equipped with either standard‑duty (90) or heavy‑duty (110/130) front suspension configurations.

Supplied as an OEM‑specification steel coil with a blue/red identification code, NRC9448 is manufactured to deliver the correct spring rate for front‑axle load balance, particularly on long‑wheelbase Defenders and models carrying accessories such as winches or bull bars. The colour coding is used to ensure correct side‑to‑side matching and to prevent incorrect installation, as Defender suspension relies on side‑specific springs to counter chassis loading and driver‑side weight bias.

Designed to maintain factory ride height, suspension geometry and wheel‑travel characteristics, the spring works with the front shock absorber to absorb vertical wheel movement and stabilise chassis control over rough terrain. Over time, original springs can fatigue, sag or corrode—especially on vehicles used for towing, carrying front‑end accessories, or exposed to off‑road conditions. NRC9448 is therefore a common replacement part during suspension overhauls, lift‑kit removals, or when correcting uneven stance caused by a weakened driver‑side coil.
