Land Rover Td5 Rocker / Camshaft Cover Gasket – LVP000020 (Genuine Part)

LVP000020 is the genuine rocker‑cover (camshaft‑cover) gasket used on Land Rover Td5 engines, fitted across Defender and Discovery 2 Td5. Installed between the alloy camshaft cover and the cylinder head, the gasket provides the primary upper‑engine oil seal, preventing oil migration down the cylinder head and maintaining the integrity of the valvetrain enclosure.

Supplied as a genuine Land Rover moulded rubber gasket, LVP000020 features the later‑style profile with an identification tag, offering improved sealing characteristics and compatibility with late Td5 cam covers. The gasket’s precision moulding ensures full perimeter contact and correct compression under the cover bolts, an essential factor in preventing oil leakage around the injector harness port and at the half‑moon recesses of the head.

The gasket is a routine replacement item on Td5 engines, often renewed alongside the injector harness (AMR6103) due to oil ingress issues common to the platform. Hardened or flattened gaskets typically lead to weeping around the cam cover edges, oil travelling into the plug wells, or visible oil misting on the block and exhaust heatshield. During valve‑train inspection or injector servicing, the gasket should always be replaced rather than re‑used to ensure a reliable seal.
