LR075817 - Land Rover Hinge assembly-load/tail door lower
Land Rover Defender Tailgate Door Hinge – LR075817 (Lower / Centre Position)
LR075817 is the lower (and centre) rear door hinge used on Land Rover Defender models equipped with the traditional rear door or swing‑away tailgate. This hinge design applies to both Defender L316 models and earlier Series vehicles that share the same rear‑door hinge geometry. It forms one of the primary rotation points for the rear door assembly, supporting the door’s weight while ensuring correct opening arc, alignment, and latching behaviour.
Manufactured as a two‑leaf steel hinge with a central pin, LR075817 provides a robust pivot interface between the rear door and the body/tub. Genuine versions are supplied in self‑colour or plated finishes and must be painted prior to installation, as required by Land Rover technical service bulletins to prevent corrosion in service. The hinge incorporates two oval mounting flanges with countersunk bolt holes, engineered to match the Defender’s rear‑door mounting pattern and ensure correct shut-line alignment.
LR075817 supersedes several earlier hinge part numbers used on Series and Defender vehicles, including BHB710060, BHB710061, BHB710100, and 346341, consolidating historic hinge variants into the current late‑model Defender specification.
Typical replacement scenarios include seized hinge pins, excessive play leading to misalignment or door dropping, corrosion of hinge bodies, or door‑frame distortion caused by worn hinge pivots. Renewing LR075817 restores correct rear‑door operation, prevents latch strain, and improves both closure quality and bodyfit alignment.
