Land Rover Defender Front Windscreen Glazing Rubber Seal – LR056278 (1987–2016)

LR056278 is the front windscreen glazing rubber seal used across the full production span of the classic Land Rover Defender, fitting all Defender 90, 110 and 130 models from 1987–2016. It forms the exterior weatherproof perimeter between the windscreen glass and the windscreen frame, ensuring correct retention of the glass while preventing water ingress, wind noise, and draughts.

The seal is designed to sit firmly within the vehicle’s windscreen aperture and clamp the glazing securely in place. On Defender models, the glass is installed into the seal first before the combined assembly is rope‑fed into the windscreen frame. Genuine Land Rover seals are known for providing a larger frame overlap and superior pliability compared with aftermarket versions, improving fitment and longevity.

LR056278 supersedes several earlier part numbers used during Defender production, including MTC5753, MUC3733, CPE500010 and CPE500020 reflecting Land Rover’s final consolidation of windscreen sealing components. 

For 2007–2016 Puma‑engined Defenders (VIN range from 7A000001), LR056278 is the official glazing seal specification, though it is backward‑compatible with all pre‑Puma models. It should be replaced whenever the windscreen is removed, or if perishing, shrinking, cracking or persistent water ingress is observed - all typical ageing symptoms of Defender screen rubbers.

If that happens then we reserve the right to charge you for the additional costs that we may incur as a result and to cancel your order.

The goods become your responsibility once delivery has been completed.
