LR045739 - Land Rover Shim
Land Rover Defender Front Door Window Channel Shim - LR045739
LR045739 is the 3mm window‑channel shim used on Land Rover Defender front doors, fitted across later Defender L316 models and also listed as a service replacement for earlier 90/110 station‑wagon front‑door assemblies. The shim sits within the front window‑channel mounting area, spacing and correctly aligning the felt‑lined glass channel so the 4mm door glass travels smoothly without binding or excessive lateral movement.
Supplied as a small rectangular steel plate with a central fixing aperture, LR045739 is used to fine‑tune the fore‑aft offset of the window channel during door assembly or rebuild. Genuine Land Rover versions are finished to OE tolerances and replace earlier part MXC5836 and BDU710070, offering improved channel stability and consistency of fit. The shim is typically installed between the inner front‑door frame and the vertical drain/felt channel, allowing the fitter to eliminate rattles and achieve correct regulator alignment.
Because Defender doors often undergo refurbishment, or adjustment after hinge wear, LR045739 is a common service item used to correct window‑glass tracking issues. When the channel is misaligned (due to panel tolerances, corrosion in the door frame, or prior disassembly) the glass may drag, chatter, or fail to seat properly in the waist seal. Installing or adjusting this 3 mm shim restores parallelism between the front and rear runners, ensuring smooth operation of the window mechanism and reducing long‑term wear to both the regulator and the channel.
